Obituary of Zelda Marie Pullen
Princeville – Zelda Marie Pullen, 90, of Groveland, formerly of Princeville, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton, IL.
Zelda was born February 21, 1921, in Washington, Illinois, the daughter of Edward H. and Marie Burroughs Schuck. She married Kenneth E. Pullen on September 24, 1941, in Yates City. He died July 9, 2008.
Surviving is one son, Wayne E. (Beverly) Pullen of Princeville, IL; one daughter, Carol (Edmond) Augspurger of Pekin; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Berger of Mapleton, Bryan (Elizabeth) Pullen of Princeville, Jennifer (Chad) Hughes of Omaha, NE, Susan (Chris) Molitor of Knoxville, TN, Scott (Autumn) Pullen of East Peoria, and Paul (Brittany) Augspurger of Groveland; 12 great-grandchildren, Genevieve & Michael Fuchs of Princeville, Alex, Lillian, Nicolas, & Tatiana Pullen of Princeville, Sahara Pullen of East Peoria, Brett Fuchs of Omaha, NE, and Joe, Luke, & Sarah Molitor of Knoxville, TN, and Augustin “Augie” Augspurger of Groveland; 3 step great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Colby, and Austin Hughes of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Opal Davison of Morton, and Lois (Wayne) Swearingen of Maplewood, MN; one brother, Edward (Willie) Schuck of Washington; and one brother-in-law, Jerry (Sandy) Pullen of Pekin.
Zelda was a graduate of Browns Business College in Peoria. She worked many years for Service Transportation Lines as a secretary in Decatur, Peoria and East Peoria. She was a charter member of the Princeville Historical Society, Princeville Women’s Club, East Peoria Women’s Club, Peoria County Rural Council on Aging, and also was an election judge for Peoria County.
Zelda was a long time member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria and the FTF Sunday School class. She also taught Sunday School for many years and loved the Lord. Zelda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. The family of Zelda would like to thank the caring staff at Morton Terrace for her care.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2011, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 8607 N. State Route 91, Peoria, IL 61615. Rev. Douglas Lightly will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
