Obituary of Veryl M. Sloan
Dunlap – Veryl M. Sloan, 89, of Dunlap, died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Rosewood Care Center, Peoria.
She was born March 23, 1923, in Dunlap, the daughter of Leslie Keel and Mabel M. Campbell Ogburn.
Veryl was previously married to Russell A. Wolland and Lloyd Argyle Sloan.
Surviving are her four children, James (Charlotte) Wolland of Spanaway, WA, Jerry (Roxy) Wolland of Edwards, IL, Diane (Dennis) Vohland of Dunlap, IL, and Deborah Wolland of Bealeton, VA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Phyllis Elliot of Caldwell, ID. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Ogburn, her half-sister, Audrey Moore and one great-grandchild.
During World War II, Veryl worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company, then Murphy’s Restaurant, Vonachen’s Junction and Maple Shade Restaurant.
The family sends a warm thank you to the nurses and staff of Proctor Hospital, Rosewood Care Center, Proctor Home Care and VITAS Hospice for their support and outstanding care of our mother during her illness.
No funeral or visitation as requested, yet memorial donations may be made to Dunlap Fire & Rescue Squad, American Cancer Society or VITAS Hospice.
