Obituary of Paul W. Streitmatter
Peoria – Paul W. Streitmatter, 89, of Peoria, formerly of Princeville, died at 10:02 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Apostolic Christian Skylines, Inc.
Paul was born September 20, 1922, in Speer, Illinois the son of Jeff & Martha Siebenthal Streitmatter. He married Mary Luft on December 23, 1945, in Tremont. She died October 11, 2006, in Peoria.
Surviving are two sons, Steven P. Streitmatter of Carnelian Bay, CA, and Michael J. Streitmatter of Fremont, CA; one daughter, Joy L. (Kirk) Stuaan of Peoria, IL; three sisters, Doris Rocke of Sarasota, FL, Geraldine Streitmatter of Peoria, IL, and Shirley Kieser of Princeville, IL; and one brother, Jeff (Ruth) Streitmatter of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Mildred Huber, Lucille Beyer, Sylvia Blunier, Vernon Streitmatter, Don Streitmatter, Alfred Streitmatter, and an infant sister, Verna Streitmatter.
At age 15, he went to work for Amos Stahl Builders, until serving in the U.S. Army. After returning from the army he farmed & then worked for 12 years at Farm Services. He co-founded Economy Builders in Princeville in 1960 with his brothers. He then sold and built homes until retiring in 1984. He was an avid golfer, belonging to Arrowhead Country Club for a number of years.
He attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Princeville, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and also from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Princeville.
